Cookies: what they are and what they are used for

A cookie is a text file that is stored on the user's computer or mobile device by the website the user accesses and that can be retrieved by the site that installed it during subsequent visits to the same site. The cookie contains some information (for example, the server from which it comes, a numeric identifier, the expiration of the cookie, etc.) and allows the website that installed it, for example, to remember the preferences expressed by the user during navigation, to make a purchase, to perform authentication for access to reserved areas or to monitor sessions. These cookies, essential for using the site, are called technical; their use does not require the prior consent of the user but the obligation for the owner of the site to provide adequate information.

There are other cookies, however, that can be used to monitor the use of the site by users (for example "Google Analytics" by Google Inc.), to monitor users while browsing within the site also for the purpose of sending advertising and/or offering services in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the web - These cookies are called profiling and require the prior consent of the user and adequate information on their use.

The site www.maon.it, of which Roberto Principe is the owner as legal representative of the CENTRO PER L’ARTE E LA CULTURA “A. Capizzano “, uses technical cookies and, soon, will also use profiling cookies. In particular, profiling cookies are third-party cookies, that is, they are installed by other sites, through the site www.maon.it: these are analytical cookies installed by Google Inc. and those that come from Social Network sites - As regards third-party cookies, if they are used, the following will be specified in this information notice: the third parties that, through the site www.maon.it , can install cookies will be identified, the purposes of each cookie will be described and the link to the privacy policies of the third parties and to the consent form prepared by these parties will be provided, which are responsible for managing the user's preferences in relation to each cookie installed through the site www.maon.it.

How to accept or refuse third-party cookies profiling

When the user visits the site www.maon.it for the first time a banner is displayed that informs him about the use of cookies by the site and he can make one of the choices listed below:

  1. Accept the use of all cookies by pressing the "I agree" button, without taking any further action related to the use of cookies.
  2. Limit the use of one or more profiling cookies, after pressing the "I agree" button “I agree”, by changing the browser settings (the methods are described below) or by using the consent forms for the use of third-party cookies whose links will be inserted in this information.
  3. Continue browsing without performing any of the actions reported in the two previous points: in this case the banner will continue to be displayed and no profiling cookies will be accepted.
